Installing A New WordPress Theme On Your Site

When choosing a new WordPress theme for your site the first thing you want to think about is functionality.  Personally I like to keep things clean, simple and easy to navigate.

The last thing you want to do is confuse your new visitor and send them running off to find what they need somewhere else…

What do you want them to do?

Aside from easy navigation of your site… What do you want your new visitor to do?

What specific action do you want them to take once they land on your website…?

Here is a few examples of what I mean when I say “specific action”:

  • Like/share your page on social media
  • Enter their email for something free
  • Buy something from your web-store
  • Call you to set up an appointment
  • etc…

A Free WordPress theme vs. a paid one…

Never compromise on the functionality and features that you need.  A solid theme should provide you with features you need now and in the near future.

If you’re looking for a free WordPress theme there are plenty for you to choose from on the {->Appearance ->Themes} area in your WordPress Dashboard.

Choose wisely though because most of the free themes are created for a specific purpose.  There are themes for online stores, artists, photography, etc…

If there is a business or hobby around a certain subject, there is most likely a theme for it.

So don’t go and choose a blogging theme if you plan on setting up a web store  …just saying.

That is why I chose to use a premium theme so I can use it’s built in functionality to create any ‘look and feel’ that I want.  But that is just my personal preference after years of switching between free themes to get a certain result.

Whatever you decide to do I hope the video above will aid you during the installation process of your new WordPress theme.
